Post-Surgical Rehabilitation
Post-surgical rehabilitation
Structured physiotherapy after joint replacement, spinal, shoulder and other orthopaedic surgery — at home in the early weeks, then in clinic as you progress.
The weeks after surgery are when strength and confidence are often lowest. A structured rehabilitation plan, following your surgeon's protocol, helps you rebuild movement, strength and independence safely.
Many people start with home visits — when getting in and out of the car is still hard — and move to clinic appointments as they improve. We can provide both.
Surgery we commonly rehabilitate
We work to your surgeon's guidelines and liaise with your treating team when needed.
- Hip and knee replacement
- Shoulder surgery and rotator cuff repair
- Spinal surgery
- Fracture fixation
- Ligament and tendon repairs
- Rehabilitation after a hospital stay
What rehabilitation involves
Early on: safe transfers, walking with or without an aid, swelling and pain management, and gentle range of movement. Later: progressive strengthening, balance, and return to the activities, work or sport you want.
Starting physiotherapy before surgery (prehabilitation) can also help you prepare.
